LAPG NAR BLEEDING CONTROL EFAK W/CAT + QUIKCLOT Review – Sentinel Tactical

We saw this LAPG NAR bleeding control EFAK W/CAT + QUIKCLOT , when we picked up a pair of the LAPG Battle Rattle pants recently that we reviewed here, sentineltactical.com/5-11-stryke-vs-lapg-battle-rattle/. We could always use another one, who couldn’t, as time goes on you need new, in date supplies and it is a good idea to have one in each vehicle. The kit is LA Police Gear branded but filled by North American Rescue with all the same stuff they use in their kits.

At this price point there was no way we could not order this kit, it’s just too cheap, most kits that have what this EFAK contains, cost $150 or more. This kit is so underpriced for the value, you could take the QuikClot, Trauma Shears and C.A.T. Tourniquet out and throw the rest of the kit away and still be ahead in the game.

The kit comes with a kit contents card showing the part number and list of items in the kit. It would be a good idea to save this card somewhere for when you want to buy another kit.

The pouch the kit is furnished in comes in one of 3 colors in a 5.5” x 7.5” x 4” pouch with a Velcro rip-top upper closure with zippers around the circumference allowing the kit to open and lay flat. This kit comes with a PVC medic patch, we replaced ours with a sewn, coyote color morale patch instead, user preference.

The pouch back is covered in Velcro and a large Molle panel attaches to it. This allows you to tear the EFAK free from your kit to access it if necessary. We would have liked to see 2 snaps here up high somewhere to prevent the kit accidently pulling free from the Velcro and your kit and getting lost.

Inside the EFAK you will find, as mentioned above, a Combat Application Tourniquet which is Orange, not the traditional black. These things are literally LifeSavers when things go truly pear shaped, it is amazing how something so simple is so valuable. In the EFAK you will find an instruction pamphlet covering use of the C.A.T. and you should read it right when you get the EFAK. That way if you ever need the C.A.T. you are prepared to use it right away when you need it.

The other truly great item in the kit is the QuikClot, this stuff is amazing when it is needed. We have attached the QuikClot instruction PDF, you should read it when you get the EFAK. As above, be prepared prior to NEEDING to be. The life you save could be your own.

The other items in the kit are the standard fare of Gauze pads, 2”x2”, 4”x4”, 5”x9” which are customary in all IFAK and EFAK’s. The kit also contains a small stack of 15 adhesive bandages that should go in the trash or in the house FAK as they are not for decent sized cuts. They should be replaced by Elastoplast brand fabric bandages, these work great. This is to be expected with a kit this cost effective, this is not a knock on the kit at all. There is always room to upgrade anything in life, that’s the way it is.

The other items in the kit are the packets of Sanitizer, Antibiotic Ointment, Alcohol pads, Burn Gel, Antiseptic Towlettes. All of these are good quality components and absolutely necessary to a well rounded EFAK.

The kit also comes with a Laerdal CPR Microshield mask instead to the traditional donut and tube type. We have never used this type of mask so cannot comment on it’s use and effectiveness. The PDF below shows the Laerdal CPR Microshield mask in use and has a brief rundown of it.

The other items remaining are Trauma Dressing, 2 pairs of gloves, Trauma Shears and a pair of BioHazard bags to dispose of the mess that awaits using one of these kits.

Summary,

You are crazy if you don’t buy at least one of these LAPG NAR bleeding control EFAK W/CAT + QUIKCLOT, they are that good of a deal and are potential lifesavers. The few shortfalls it has are remedied quickly and are no factor in the purchase, this is a must buy.
